Kinetic

Stickers for Kinetic, a skateboard brand out of Philadelphia. A sticker gets about one second of attention on the underside of a board or the back of a sign, so every one of these is loud and alive.

Made by hand

Skate graphics come alive when they look handled. So the lettering is brushed by hand, uneven with intention, and outlined in orange so it vibrates against the black. Every element leans and drifts. The brand is called Kinetic, so the layout keeps moving too.

The photographs are shot at night with a flash and pushed to high contrast, the true look of a skate photo when somebody films a trick at 1am under a parking lot light.

The second sticker is a true cyanotype, the old blueprint process where the image develops in sunlight and emerges in that deep Prussian blue. The subject is a cat, mid-yowl, and the lettering is scratched straight into the print. The quickest path to real texture is to make something real, then scan it.
